How we work with you
I. INITIAL CONSULTATION to determine whether a WASTEWATER GARDENS® system is suitable to your needs. While initial contact, data and discussion can be exchanged via email, we will need to review your site and the building location plans in order to understand your site, evaluate its need and discuss possibilities for the location of the WWG system and graywater recycling system.
II. SITE VISIT, SITE SURVEY, PROJECT EVALUTATION AND PROPOSAL: we will visit your site with you and/or your client to review land contours, existing septic tank/s, conduct percolation tests of soil and evaluation of soil texture, existing trees and vegetation, drainage areas and other factors that will affect the placement and functioning of the WASTEWATER GARDENS®. Shapes for the gardens will be discussed at this time as well as types and varieties of plants suitable to the project and owner's preferences.
III. UPON ACCEPTANCE OF OUR PROPOSAL, WE WILL SEND YOU DETAILED DESIGNS FOR CONSTRUCTION, ACCOMPANIED BY DOCUMENTS TO OBTAIN LOCAL HEALTH AUTHORITIES AUTHORIZATIONS IF APPLICABLE.
IVA. ALL WORKS CAN EITHER BE UNDERTAKEN BY THE CLIENT'S OWN CONSTRUCTION TEAM AND/OR ARCHITECT, OR BY WWG STAFF WITH A LOCAL CONSTRUCTION COMPANY. If you have your own constructor, in-person or phone/email meetings with the contractor are needed to discuss the designs and plans for the WASTEWATER GARDENS® and to ensure that system engineering meets requirements and that all stages prior to planting and final WWG unit/s testing are properly done. If septic tank installation, enlargement and/or upgrade is required as per our Project Evaluation and Proposal, they must be implemented prior to excavation of WWG basins.
If undertaken by Client, we will provide an additional technical specifications sheet for the septic tank filter/s.
IVB. IF WE ARE IN CHARGE OF THE WORKS, we will determine with you convenient time for construction to begin.
V. INSPECTION: Regardless of who is in charge of construction, WWG staff must be present to oversee these steps prior to planting:
a) LINING TESTING: if the project is large and/or requires steel reinforcement in the case of a concrete lining of WWG basins, we will need to inspect the WASTEWATER GARDENS® basin when it is framed and has the piping in place, before the cement is poured. or the liner installed. We will also have to inspect the basin/s after piping is in place to make sure the levels and positions are correct.
b) WATERPROOFING / LEAK TESTING: after the lining is placed WWG staff supervises a water leak test for all the systems to ensure that the WWG unit/s is/are properly sealed and leachdrain or subsurface irrigation trenches are properly laid-out and piped.
c) GRAVEL INSPECTION: before gravel is placed in the system, we will ensure that the gravel is cleaned properly and correctly placed both in the WASTEWATER GARDENS® and in the leachdrains.
VI. PLANTING AND FINAL TRAINING: at the time of planting, we train the owner/s and/or designated staff on the procedures to properly operate and maintain the WASTEWATER GARDENS®, provide the system Maintenance Manual and the license delivered by PCRF to operate the WASTEWATER GARDENS® technology.
Follow-up visits and/or maintenance contracts will be discussed on-site
and can be made available upon request.
